WELCOME!

What’s up everyone, this is the first post being written exclusively for The New Philadelphia, so I just wanted to take a minute to welcome you all to the new site. The New Montreal has been up and thriving for a while now, so with my relocation to Philly, it only seemed fitting to give it a sister site.

Today’s tracks represent a wide variety of artists and genres, and they’re a great indication of what you can expect to come from TNP. We’ll be featuring lovely indie and dirty electro, and just about everything in between. Check them out, and be sure to come back tomorrow for more!

Saeglopur (Mt Eden Dubstep Remix) – Sigur Rós <– Don’t know too much about Mt Eden, but looks like they’re two dubsteppers from New Zealand who have been releasing some catchy tracks for a while now. Sigur Ros is gorgeous, so it stands to reason that this track would be awesome. And it is.

Who Knows Who Cares (bretonLABS Remix) – Local Natives <– Local Natives posted all of their stems online, so there have been a slew of great, good, and not so good remixes surfacing since their release of Gorilla Manor back in February. This one stands out, courtesy of bretonLABS.

Ruthless – Ima Robot <– Ima Robot have been around since the late 1990s, but are now resurfacing with their upcoming LP, Another Man’s Treasure. The band’s most famous member is Alex Ebert, of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros fame. The vocal styling on this is pretty unique and very catchy.

Hot Like Sauce – Pretty Lights <– This came out a while ago. I’m still obsessed with it. Deal.

Barbra Streisand (Love Thy Brother Remix x Bassnectar) – Duck Sauce <– My favorite Barbra Streisand mix by far. Love Thy Brother rep Montreal while the Bassnectar component adds some signature…well, bass.

As a bonus, here’s the brand new video for ‘Barbra Streisand’. Although it’s been on the blogosphere for a long time now, the single officially drops on October 12th. In honor of that, the producer duo comprised of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden have released a sick video. Directed by So Me, it’s a compilation of A-Track and AVH’s busy lives in NYC. With appearances by many famous friends, this is one of the most fun vids I’ve seen in a while. Check it out.
