It’s been nearly a year since The Raveonettes released their last album, Raven In The Grave, yet the New York based Danish duo can’t seem to get enough of a break from the studio with the release of their sixth upcoming album, Observator, which officially comes out on Monday, September 10.
After being diagnosed with clinical depression and ordered to stop drinking, the guitarist/ singer, Sune Rose Wagner, admits that while recording their sixth album in Los Angeles, he was seduced by the combination of ‘the warm Pacific pull’ and a craving to capture something of The Doors. Wagner also describes his experience of the album as follows:
“This album rose from such a dark place but ended up illuminating the gloominess and restlessness in a way I never thought possible. I honestly never thought this album would see the light of day, all the turmoil, all the craziness, all the sleepless night but in a single burst of spontaneous madness it came to be. I’m so thrilled for people to hear this new album in its entirety, it’s quite a dark ride.”
For now, The Raveonettes have been gracious enough to allow fans to stream the full album online before its official release date. If you find yourself bored at work or needing a break from school, give Observator a listen below.
