In April of this year, we finally heard Porter Robinson release his new single titled, “Language” which blew up in the Electro House world. It reached #1 on the iTunes Dance chart as well as Beatport. All of this excitement brought enormous energy to Porter’s 2012 Language Tour and many dates on the tour spotlight two incredible openers: the M Machine and Mat Zo.
The combination of these three masterminds was enough to sell out the Theater of the Living Arts here in Philadelphia. The M Machine opened first and as expected, their two month old album Metropolis Pt. I was a major focus. It’s basically impossible not to move to their heavy, melodic beats which provided a great start for the night. Following the M Machine, Mat Zo (of Arjunabeats) brought out a more progressive house/trance vibe to the venue which seamlessly flowed into Porter’s flawless set.
Porter Robinson opened with his first chart topping single, “Say My Name” which, as you can imagine, made all of his fans go wild. Intense lasers only added to the pounding beat of this classic house track. My favorite part of his set had to be when he dropped “Space Junk” by Wolfgang Gartner, and transitioned into a remix of “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” It’s obvious 19-year-old Porter is completely comfortable with the crowd and knows exactly what his fans want.
The Language Tour continues through the end of August so be sure to check out the rest of the tour dates.
