Songs and Videos of the Day

Published on December 10th, 2010

Happy Friday everyone. The weekend before finals always presents a conflict of whether to party or work, but hopefully you’ll be able to find a nice balance. I have a paper that I should be writing at the moment, so I’m going to keep this fairly short. First up we have some Skrillex, followed by a remix of “Fuck You” in honor of Cee Lo Green’s multiple recent Grammy nominations. Finally we have a track from Night Kids, a Brooklyn DJ group who killed it at two Philly parties this past weekend. The New Philadelphia has a big announcement to make with Night Kids, so be on the lookout for that to come very soon.

Now it’s time for the videos of the day. First we have the video for Daft Punk’s “Derezzed” from the upcoming TRON: Legacy soundtrack. There are a lot of different teasers and trailers floating around for the track, but this one seems to be the official music video. It’s a pretty simple concept, but it’s executed nicely and features a cameo by Olivia Wilde at the end. Definitely looking forward to seeing the movie next weekend.

To wrap things up, I have something I stumbled upon today that isn’t quite a music video, but is just as good if not better. This beautifully shot Bonnaroo 2010 highlight video from The Work is the best I’ve seen. It starts with some nostalgia-inducing daytime footage perfectly accompanied by Delorean. Then, one minute in, Sleigh Bells and nighttime clips take over and totally capture the feel of Bonnaroo at its best. Shots of my personal favorite performances by LCD Soundsystem and Bassnectar were almost hard to watch for want of being there. Luckily, yesterday marked the six-month point until next year…June 9, 2011 can’t come soon enough.
