Avant-garde-rock prodigies Bixler-Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez have been quite busy these days. In addition to the reunification of their previous band from 11 years ago, At the Drive-In, Bixler-Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez announced earlier this week that experimental prog-rock squad, The Mars Volta, will be dropping their sixth studio album on March 27 via Warner Bros. It has been 3 years since the Mars Volta released their last explosion, Octahedron, which reminds me of the Devil on LSD.
The upcoming 13-track LP has been titled Noctourniquet, which traces the narrative of a character inspired by 1980s U.K. alt-rockers, Superman villain Solomon Grundy, and the Greek myth of Hyacinthus. According to a release, the band promises that the album will be a concept album of epic proportions inspired by disparate elements. Song titles such as, “Lapochka,” “In Absentia,” and “Molochwalker” remain as perplexing as ever. The Apocalypse ain’t got shit next to this.

Track list for Noctourniquet:
