No One Likes Techno, Vol. I

Published on October 4th, 2011

Is that really true? That would be unfortunate, cause here’s a bunch.

Earlier this month artist Australia released an EP under Twin Turbo (Canada, what what!) by the title of “Sydney On Acid”. A very classic acid sound. Here’s “Chopper”, the other track from the EP. Very rainbows.

Another release from Bang Gang (Italy) this month from artist Franz and Shape, appropriately titled “Acid One”. NT89 had released an EP under Bang Gang earlier in August worth checking out as well. The remixes provided on the EP don’t really stick out, but the O.G. is some serious classic acid funk.

Back in end of August Southern Fried Records (Italy) popped out the remix album to the new Crookers collaboration/project album: Crookers presents Dr. Gonzo: The Gonzo Anthem (Crookers + Savage Skulls + Neoteric + Wax Motif). Most importantly Mumbai Science shows up here with another one of their trade mark gnarly techno-cid remixes.

Also groovy, kinda dub, reverb to the max!

Also earlier this month a release from Secure (Netherlands) has Bart B More & Harvard Bass teaming up again. Has anyone else noticed Bart B More being seduced to the techno-side? Here’s one of “The Ones” from BBM&HB. So tough.

NT89 busted out the new EP “Panda” end of August under Televizion (Netherlands/Italy). Dark rainbows and heavy techno, you know how NT89 does. (As mentioned earlier his “Tyme” EP from Gang Bang is also a must)

New Zola Jesus album! Now I know Zola Jesus is in no way techno, or even dance music. But hey, no one likes techno anyway. I did however take my mom to see them at Pitchfork.

Oh if I could only write a dry and meaningless blurb for every techno EP and album that came out in the past six months, but I can’t. So here’s a modge-podge of some of the technacid I’ve picked up throughout my bin hunting this summer, most notably from my two new faves, The Finger Prince and Light Year, taking techno where only techno will dare to techno.

Almost forget about Gesaffelstein. Shot entirely over one night at the Standard Hotel. He will be playing Holy Ship! in January, the cruise/festival from Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas. So if you got a grand to spend to party, then it’s definitely the party to spend a grand on.
