Mord Fustang & Dillon Francis @ The Starlight Ballroom (10/07/11)

Published on October 4th, 2011

I arrived just in time to hear Dillon drop Porter Robinson’s new “100% in the Bitch” into his mix. The energy was picking up fast as he crossed between electro and moombahton, playing out his own “Masta Blasta” and later jumping in to Wolfgang Gartner’s “Space Junk”. Dillon Francis was a genuine guy with great hair. We talked briefly backstage about his other shows in Philadelphia and he remarked that this specific event was the best out of any of them.

Then Mord Fustang came on – and people went nuts. Mord, who’s real name I fear I’ll never know, hails from the Republic of Estonia, which is a state in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. Mord has a knack for feel good melody lines – which instantly gave the place a great vibe. With verby arpeggios, melodic vocal samples, and whipping basslines, he had the crowd in a frenzy in no time. It was great to see Philly support a new and rising hit in the electronic scene – and he definitely dropped in some sweet unreleased stuff as well.

Hopefully these will bring back some memories.
