Modeselektion Vol. 2

Published on July 12th, 2012

Berlin has always had a reputation for innovation when it comes to electronic music. The city’s reputation as a hub of techno music and rave culture makes it the perfect place for producers looking to push the boundaries of their craft to call home. Among the long list of notable Berlin residents, few are more widely regarded within the music community than Modeselektor. A long time favorite of Thom Yorkeand Radiohead, Modeselektor have made their impact on electronic music known world wide for over a decade now. From their website:

“Wildly diverse, infused with exuberance and inspired by a slap of the absurd, Modeselektor’s inarguable grooves seem to emanate from every conceivable musical genre, creating a controlled chaos whose sonic expression elevates the eyebrows and heartbeats of critics and dance floors around the world.”

On July 29th, Modeselektor and their label Monkeytown Records made their latest contribution to the world of dance music with the release of Modeselektion Vol 2. Modeselektion Vol 2 draws from an extensive range of electronic influences, forming a dynamic compilation where even individual tracks can transition seamlessly  between breakbeat and garage to hip-hop, electro and glitchy ambient euphoria. The collection of artists assembled by Monkeytown records for this release is almost as impressive as the finished product itself. Modeselektion Vol 2 features contributions from big names like Surismo, Lazer Sword, Jan Driver, and of course Modeselektor themselves, as well as exciting up and comers like Egyptrixx, Frikstailers and many more. Modeselektion Vol 2 certainly breaks the mold of the standard and somewhat stale releases that seem to constantly flood the market, making it a gloriously weird and offbeat alternative for anyone seeking a fresh new sound.
