It’s finally time for one of the most anticipated tours of the summer. The first-ever HARD Tour kicked off in California on the 6th, and with a stop in Philadelphia on Wednesday (8/18), it’s still going strong.
Headliners Crystal Castles have apparently been throwing down ridiculous, crazy intense sets thus far. The Toronto natives have been infamous for their live performances ever since their formation in December 2003. Originally a solo project by Ethan Kath, he discovered vocalist Alice Glass and the group was born. After years of releasing mixes and singles, the duo finally released their first EP, Crystal Castles, in 2008. They proceeded to headline tours worldwide, as well as a huge number of festivals. Another eponymous album leaked onto the blogosphere in April, and instantly became a hit. It was formally released to mass critical acclaim in May. The group’s music has always pushed the limits, and is perfectly summarized by BBC Music: “To listen to Crystal Castles is to be cast adrift in a vortex of deafening pain without a safety net. You get the feeling you could do anything in the world, but that ‘anything’ would ultimately mean nothing. Crystal Castles marks a nuanced emotional territory that dance music never covered before.”
August 18: Electric Factory, Philadelphia PA
August 20: 9:30 Club, Washington D.C.
August 21: Terminal 5, New York City NY

Basically, if you’re in any of these cities, you need to make it to the show. The HARD Tour is definitely one of the electronic music events of the summer, and something not to be missed. Here are a few tracks from the HARD artists to help get you excited.
